i lead the practice in warm up last night...

last night, i lead the practice in warm up. oh well...

debana men..

past weekend, our practice concentrated on debana men. few things were pointed out to me. first thing that was pointed out was the fact, i'm not ready to strike when there is an opening. what that means, i should be already in position to strike down when there is an opening. no raising up the shinai, but just 'slam!'. i need to push off with my left leg, and strike down the moment i see an opening.. or since it's debana men.. moment i see aite setting up for a cut.

other thing i have notice is the maai. if i'm too close, i can't see the aite's whole body. i need to find that optimal distance to notice the whole body of the aite, and yet close enough for a cut.

one thing that happened was one of my sempai was keep doing the same foot work.. inches in 3 times and cut. it was rather easy to see when i was at issoku itto no maai, but when i get in close it was rather hard to notice the movement.

still need to work on developing my eyes.
