lot of things have been going on in kendo since i got ikkyu.
first thing i was told by sensei is i need to think about how i approach my kendo. with limitations that i have, speed, age.. i need to learn to control the other side before i could make the cuts. this seems to be working out okay as far as pressuring others. or at least i think i could pressure others. but the big question is what to do when i start to control them.
with thanksgiving and what not, there was not practice on sat. so i went to fri. practice. friday practice is little more intense in my opinion. there are more people of higher skill in that practice. it was rather interesting. i could tell i was holding off others from attacking like they normally do. but that's more or less because i'm holding the center, and kiai. i have rather loud kiai from TKD, and HDK. at least i have been told i have fine kiai. i don't think it has anything to do with seme or other concept that i don't understand yet.
sensei has told me to work on debana men for awhile. so far, it's not going all that well. i do not have the timing down yet, and i have problem sensing when other's are about to move. been thinking about this for awhile, and i think i have come to a conclution that i need to develope my eyes. i don't exactly have tunnerl vision, but i still do not see the whole person standing front of me. i think i need to work on that. and use it more in debana men. that would be my goal for the next few months. get the debana men to work for me.
